Lorraine Jenson Unsworth

B. Lorraine Jenson Unsworth, our wonderful and loving mother, wife and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on August 11, 2007 with her loving family at her side. She returned to her Heavenly Father, her Savior, and is having a joyous reunion with her first born infant daughter and her loving son, Quent, who preceded her. She left her mortal state after a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

She was born in Ridgedale, Idaho on August 18, 1921, a daughter of Elmo Carlos and Mary Leatham Jenson. In one week we would have celebrated her 86th birthday.

On September 12, 1943 she married her life-long love, Quentin Orell Unsworth in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on September 13, 1954.

After their marriage, they worked at ranches in Idaho; dad working as a cowboy and mom cooking for 21 cowboys with three little girls to care for. They eventually moved to Clearfield where dad worked at the Naval Defense Depot, and then moved to Sunset where they resided for 51 years.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings in Primary, Cub Scouts and Relief Society. She was a faithful visiting teacher for many years and would go visiting as many times each month as necessary to fulfill her responsibility.

She worked for many years at Dee Hospital in Ogden as a nurse’s aide and was a kind and compassionate caretaker. She was devoted to serving others and willingly helped those in need. She taught her children and grandchildren that serving others was a joyful thing and how to work. She loved cooking, canning and making quilts. She was famous for her butter mints.

She loved her babies and as long as she could speak, she would ask dad daily if all of the babies were okay. She was blessed with 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband, Quentin who has cared for her at home for the last seven years; her daughters, Karma (Ed) Dornfeld, Littleton, CO; Linda (Brent) Aguirre, Sunset; Pat (John) Kuczma, Clinton; daughter-in-law VerLean Unsworth, Clinton; sons, Rodney (Genia) Unsworth, Salem, UT and Sidney Unsworth of Ogden.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Catherine, her loved and first-born son, Quentin Orell Unsworth II, two infant granddaughters, Crystal and Tanna Kuczma; her parents; brothers, Elmo, Leatham, James L. Keith and Roy Jenson, and her sister, Helen Goodman. She is survived by her sisters, Faye J. Jones, Malad, and June Schaelling of Peterson, Utah; and a sister-in-law Virginia Fife, Elk Grove, CA.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 S. 1990 W., where family will meet friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Interment will follow at Hyrum City Cemetery in Hyrum, Utah.

“Mom, we love you and thank you for all the things you endured and taught us. We will miss you, but you will be in our hearts forever.”
