Lloyd Blaisdell Sorenson

9/5/1927 – 10/14/2023

On October 14th, 2023, Lloyd Blaisdell Sorenson passed away, surrounded by the love and care of his children and grandchildren.

Lloyd was born to Golden and Ione Sorenson in Malad, Idaho in 1927, and was raised in Magna and Millcreek, Utah. He graduated from Granite High School, but only after joining the US Navy (underage, at 16) to serve as a midshipman during WWII, and after the war in Hiroshima, Japan. In 1949 Lloyd married his one true love, Betty Joyce Nageli, in the Salt Lake Temple, and he treasured her every single day through 71 years of marriage and raising seven beautiful children together. He retired early from a career at the Kennecott Copper Corp., having started multiple small businesses along the way, to found Sorenson and Sons Brick Cleaning and Restoration, which he passed on to his two youngest sons. Lloyd and Betty retired to Island Park, Idaho, where they spent their final years together in the place they loved most.

Lloyd possessed an inimitable work ethic, an uncanny sense of optimism, a deep love of people, and the charm of a true storyteller. We will always remember the twinkle in his baby-blue eyes. Lloyd passed on a love of the outdoors, of snow-skiing, and especially water-skiing to his children and grandchildren. Most of all, Lloyd was a devoted father, whose family mattered more to him than anything in the world, and a dedicated servant of his Savior Jesus Christ.

We’ll see you at the lake on the other side, old blue eyes.

Lloyd is survived by seven children: Trudy (Steve), Doug (Cindy), Rod (Robyn), Greg (Ann), Nanette (Mike), Troy (Heather), and Ron (Erin), 24 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and eight siblings.

Services will be held Thursday, October 26th in Malad, Idaho. A viewing and family gathering will be held at Horsley Funeral Home from 10-11AM followed by funeral services from 11-12.

Internment will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
