FORMER MALAD MAN DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Word was received here this week of the death of Lewis J. Thomas, former Malad resident, who died at his home in Palo Alto, CA on July 13, 1940. Funeral services were held there on July 17.

Mr. Thomas will be remembered here as a farmer and dealer in livestock. He was born in Malad, October 11, 1877, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel L. Thomas, early Malad settlers. He was married to Miss Mary Ann Tovey and they became the parents of two daughters. Later, after her death, he married Miss Florence Anderson.

The Thomas family left Malad some twenty years ago going to Idaho Falls to make their home and moving to California three years ago.

Surviving are his widow, Florence A. Thomas and the following children: Mrs. Anne Bendixon, Mrs. Evelyn Anderson, Vernon Thomas, Chester Thomas, Miss Laura and Miss Lorraine Thomas. Two sisters, Mrs. D.J. Lewis and Mrs. N.W. Lewis of Malad, and one brother, Dan J. Thomas of Salt Lake City also survive.
