Services Today For Letitia J. Harvitt
Mrs. Letitia Jones Harvitt, 69, Los Angeles, Calif. And former Malad resident, died at her home in Los Angeles July 19th of a heart ailment.
Funeral services are being conducted today (Thursday) in Malad 2nd LDS Ward chapel by Bishop Colen H. Sweeten, Jr. of the Malad 4th ward. Interment will be in the Malad Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harvitt was born Feb. 6, 1888 at Malad, a daughter of Mary Jane Thomas Jones and Benjamin E. Jones, both deceased. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church and, while living in Malad, took an active part in many auxiliary organizations of the church and often was an accompanist for musical numbers. She was educated at Malad, Utah State College, Logan, and L.D.S. Business College in Salt Lake City. In addition to teaching school for two years, she worked in various offices at the Oneida county courthouse. In August, 1939, she was married to Newton K. Harvitt of Los Angeles.
Surviving are her husband and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Dunn, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Dora Jones, Malad.
