Lester Evans Peabody died Saturday, July 30, 1994, in Salt Lake City at the age of 83 from complications following a stroke.
He was born in Malad City, Idaho on November 8, 1910, to Isaac Clark Peabody and Alice K Evans. He married Velda Richards on November 8, 1932 in St. John, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple May 16, 1950.
With the exception of eight years in Utah, they made their home in the Malad Valley, “the land of milk and honey.”
Lester was very talented with his hands, and made his livelihood as a mechanic, owning and operating the Peabody Garage. He was an avid outdoorsman, with a great love and respect for nature. Some of his family’s happiest memories are of hunting and fishing with “Pa.”
He reaped the reward of his love for the land with an ability to make anything grow. He always tried to install in his posterity a sense of honesty, fairness and keen sense of responsibility for our stewardships.
He had a quick wit, an endearing sense of humor and an ability to make others laugh, even in difficult situations. He will be greatly missed.
He was an active member of the LDS Church in the Malad First and Fourth Wards, serving as high priest, assistant ward clerk and home teacher.
He is survived by his beloved companion, Velda; one daughter, Marlene (Loren) Bullock, Salt Lake City; four grandchildren, David (Claire) Lindsey, Fresno, California; Laurie (Roger) Little, Salt Lake City, Joseph Lindsey, Salt Lake City, and Christopher Lindsey, Salt Lake City; and five great-grandchildren. He also is survived by one brother, Arthur E. Peabody (Jessie), of Malad, and two sisters, Frances Campbell, Salt Lake City, and Ann Cooper, Blackfoot, Idaho. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 3, 1994, at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home at noon. Viewing will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.

Funeral services for Lester Peabody, 83, of Malad, who died Saturday, July 30, 1994, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 3, at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
