Former Malad Man Dies at Salt Lake

Leslie T. Sheriff, 69, died Saturday at Salt Lake City. Funeral services were held at Salt Lake Tuesday morning and at Malad in the afternoon. An account of these services will be published next week.

A retired welder for the Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad, Mr. Sheriff was a veteran of the Spanish-American war, enlisting from Kentucky.

He was born May 6, 1881, in Pendleton county, Kentucky, a son of * and Adita Justice Sheriff. After the Spanish American war he went to Idaho where he engaged in farming.

He married Rosezella Ann Stocking on Dec. 22, 1902, in Salt Lake City. She died in May 1937. In 1922 He moved to Salt Lake City where he had since resided.

In 1938 he married Chloe Sweeten Garn in Salt Lake City. Mr. Sheriff was an elder in the Tenth ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Surviving are his widow, and the following sons and daughters; Mrs. Viola Denning, San Francisco; Mrs. Ione Sherry Chamberlain, Oakland, Cal.; Russell Sheriff, Helena Mont.; Angust L. Sheriff, Albany, Cal.; Leslie T. Sherriff Jr., Tacoma, Wash.; and Horace Sweeten Garn, a step-son, Rockland, Ida., nine grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters, Perry Sheriff Hamilton, O.; Everett Sheriff, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Emma Crist, Hamilton; Mrs. Grace Waits, Logan; Mrs. Lillie Jenkins, Pocatello, and Mrs. Sally Pierson, Los Angeles.
