LeRoy Webster Furgeson

FURGESON, LeROY WEBSTER, February 23, 1918 – August 5, 1988

LeRoy Webster Furgeson, 70, of Malad, died Friday at his home of a heart attack. He was born February 23, 1918 in Ogden, UT to LeRoy Cecil and Dora Carter Furgeson. He was raised and educated in Ogden.

As a young man he worked as a railroad car man, fireman and yard engineer of the OUR & D Railroad Company.

He married Athleen Reed. They were later divorced. He married Florabell Williams Olafson in 1945. The couple moved to California, where he worked in the Southern Pacific Railroad yards as a welder.

He was a member of the International Operating Engineers Local 12 Union, where he was a heavy duty construction welder and mechanic. The couple moved to Malad in 1971.

He was a member of the LDS Church. He was a Third Master Mason of the West Covina LaPuente Lodge No. 446.

He is survived by his wife of Malad; a daughter, Mrs. Brent (Constance Athleen) Minnoch, Ogden, UT; a step daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Connie Jean) Dibold, Walnut; CA; ;eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert and a brother.

Private Masonic services were held at noon Tuesday in the Benson Horsley Funeral Home in Malad.
