Chauncey Martin Funk

FUNK, CHAUNCEY MARTIN, April 1, 1905 – December 7, 1984

Chauncey Martin Funk, 79, of Ogden, Utah, died Friday, December 7, 1984 at his home. He was born April 1, 1905 in Sterling, Utah, a son of Daniel B. and Annie Caroline Peterson Funk.

On August 6, 1924, he married Alethea L. Sorensen in the Manti LDS Temple.

He had been the custodian for the Ogden LDS 8th Ward Chapel. He had formerly farmed, and was a realtor, insurance salesman and had worked for the Utah Power and Light Company.

He was a member of the Ogden 8th Ward where he had been active as a High Priest and home teacher. He had been secretary of the YMMIA, Sunday School Superintendent on four different occasions, was a counselor in the bishopric of the Uintah, Utah, Ward Bishop of the Stone Ward in Idaho, and High Priest group leader.

He was a former president of the Stone, Idaho Lions Club, was instrumental in organizing the Stone, Idaho rodeo and was head of the Stone Road Committee. He had lived in Centerfield, Utah, Shoshone, Idaho, Uintah, Utah and Stone, Idaho, prior to moving to Ogden.

Surviving are his widow of Ogden, six sons: Lowell C. Funk, Sweet Home, OR; Daniel G. Funk, Gooding, ID; Andrew K. Funk, Garland, UT; Udell B. Funk, Marriot; Ronel M. Funk, Eagle Creek, OR; Robert L. Funk, Uintah, UT; 32 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Lura) Sorenson, Gunnison, UT; and Mrs. Glen (Levell) Bradley, Logan, UT.

He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Ogden 8th Ward Chapel with Bishop KIendle Reber officiating. Interment was in the Uintah, Utah cemetery.
