CLINTON, Utah – LeRoy E. Williams, our beloved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and great-great grandpa, returned to his Heavenly home surrounded by his loving wife and family on July 24, 1998.
He was born October 13, 1911, in Malad, Idaho, the seventh child of Thomas Oliver Williams and Elizabeth Ann Evans.
LeRoy graduated from Malad High School. He worked on the family farm. During the Depression, he went to work in the Government CC Camp in Boise, Idaho.
On March 4, 1937, he married his sweetheart Elsie Gleed in Malad. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 26, 1955.’ Out of their union, they were blessed with three sons.
In 1944 LeRoy moved his family to Ogden, Utah, where he went to work for the Naval Supply Depot. He then was transferred to Hill Air Force Base from which he retired in 1972.
LeRoy’s interests included fishing, gardening, and he always had his special projects he was working on. LeRoy built both of his homes, including his home in Clinton, where he resided until he passed away. For the past eighteen years, they spent their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.
LeRoy always loved his church work. He served as a counselor in two bishoprics for the Ogden 28th Ward, served in many ward and stake positions, and was also a temple ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Surviving are his loving wife and three sons: Gary (Delores) Williams, Gordon (Anita) Williams, and Lynn Ray Williams, all of Riverdale, Utah. A wonderful grandfather, LeRoy also leaves eleven grandchildren, thirteen (& one on the way) great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving is one sister, Thelma Green, of Pocatello, Idaho.
He will always be remembered for his positive approach to life, his delightful sense of humor, and his courage in the face of adversity. He taught all of his family a great lesson about patience, long suffering and enduring to the end. We loved him deeply.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Vista Care Hospice, of Ogden, and to Carolyn’s four C’s and her loving caregivers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 28, at the Clinton LDS Stake Center. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Myers Mortuary, in Roy. Interment was in the Clinton City Cemetery.
