Leon Jensen

JENSEN, LEON, September 18, 1925 – June 26, 2004

DOWNEY – Leon Jensen, 78, of Downey, passed away at his home on June 26, 2004, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 18, 1925 in Downey, Idaho, a son of Joseph A. and Martha Adelia Barnes Jensen. He was raised and educated in Downey. He married Iva Lou Atkinson on July 21, 1950 in Samaria, Idaho, and they were blessed with one son and two daughters.

Leon loved the land where he farmed and ranched for many years. He was a member of a posse as a young man and especially loved his horse, Reno. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Leon was a kind and gentle man and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Iva Lou, Downey; one son, Kent L. Jensen, Downey; two daughters, Sharon (Neldon) Bailey, Heyburn, Idaho and Annette Scott, Chubbuck, Idaho; three grandchildren, Allyson Bailey, Jaclynn Scott Garza and Michael R. Scott; two great-grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Michael and Kaitlyn; two sisters, Illa Elcock, Malad, and Melva (Eneard) Gentry, Modesto, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Vestal, Lynn and Gene.

Funeral services will be held July 1, 2004 in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Cambridge Cemetery.
