Lena Mills Walker, (1915)

WALKER, LENA MILLS, December 25, 1915 – June 11, 2008

Lena Mills Walker passed away on June 11, 2008. She was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1915 in Joseph, Sevier County, Utah to Louis L.V. Mills and Leanora Thayne. She was the seventh child in a family of eleven children. Lena was the last survivor of the Mills family.

She married Frederick Walker on September 9, 1941 in Malad, ID. They were sealed on October 5, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She was preceded in death by her husband on August 26, 1975. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Corinne, 1st Ward. She served as second counselor in the Relief Society presidency; as quilting chairman for many years; and as a visiting teacher. She served a one year mission in the Ogden LDS Temple and did extraction and genealogy work. She was also a member of the Fruitvale DUP Camp, where she held several positions.

Her hobbies were raising flowers, crocheting afghans and doing handiwork. She enjoyed taking care of her family.

She is survived by her children, Blythe H. (Birgitt) Mills, Plain City; LaRae (Willis) Lee, Clearfield; Clyde Fred Walker, Corinne; Wayne M. (Linda) Walker, West Valley City; Gary Lynn Walker, Brigham City; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frederick, 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held June 16, 2008 at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, Brigham City, UT. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
