Leland L. Morgan, 75, of Malad, died early Tuesday, September 13, 1994, in the Logan Regional Medical Center. He was born December 16, 1918 in Malad, a son of Edmond and Catherine Lewlis Morgan. He grew up and was educated in Malad, was a graduate of Malad High School and later had attended Utah State College. He served in the Amry {sic} Infantry Division during WWII, and was stationed in North Africa and Italy, where he received a purple heart. He married Viola Kent, April 13, 1946 in Malad, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple, March 17, 1965. He had farmed for several years in the Deep Creek area until his retirement in 1972. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and all sports, and for several years had been a Little League baseball coach.

He is survived by his wife, Viola of Malad; 6 brothers and their wives; Lewis and Diane of Burns, Oregon; Edmond Jr. and Carma of Moscow; William of Missoula, Mt.; Gene of Hermiston, Ore,; Cleve and Kay of Soda Springs; Glen and Delores of Lewliston. 3 sisters and husbands: Doris Kay of Downey; Lydia and Horatio Thomas of Centralia, WA.; Katherine and Terrel Tovey of Hermiston, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 16 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 3rd Ward Chapel with Bishop Brad Thorpe, officiating. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home Thursday from 7-8 p.m. and on Friday at the Malad City Cemetery with military rites by the Malad American Legion, Ernest S. Jones Post #65.
