GILGEN, LAWRENCE J., (?) – August 20, 1949

Mr. Gilgen was killed while plowing a fire guard at his farm near Downey. The victim suffered a heart attack while plowing the guard with a 2000 pound disc plow. He fell from the plow and was pinned beneath it. the plow dragged him for about 100 yards before stopping.

Gilgen and his brother were plowing a furrow fire guard around a stubble field preparatory to setting it afire.

The body was taken to the Benson Mortuary in Malad. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Vaughan and Mrs. Arlene Gilgen arrived to attend the funeral.
