Laurel Sorenson, (1912)

SORENSON, LAUREL, October 19, 1912 – June 9, 2004

Laurel Sorenson, 91, of Malad and husband of Ardelle Thomas Sorenson, passed away June 9, 2004 in Malad, Idaho. He was born October 19, 1912, in Downey, Idaho, a son of James William and Amelia Bair Sorenson. He grew up and was educated in Heyburn and later attended USU.

He married Mildred Lucy Nelson June 21, 1936 in Elko, Nevada.

Laurel served in the Army during World War Ii, from 1942 – 1946. Following the war, he returned to the Twin Falls area, where he farmed for many years, raising potatoes and beets.

Mildred passed away June 11, 1991. He married Ardelle parry Thomas January 14, 1995 in Malad, and they have resided in Malad and Twin Falls since.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a high priest.

He is survived by his wife of Malad; two daughters Linda Canaday and Sandra Potthast, both of California; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a brother, Ned Sorenson of Orem, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held June 12, 2004 in the Horsley Funeral Home, Malad, ID. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls.
