Laura Jean Tubbs, (1974)

LAURA JEAN TUBBS

On Wednesday, May 11, 2011, Laura Jean Tubbs passed peacefully from this earth back into her Father in Heaven’s presence. She was born June 5, 1974 in Malad City, Idaho to Marvin Dean and Mary Etta Bowen Tubbs. She was so anxious to com to earth that she came early, and the doctors did not expect her to live. But she had a strong spirit and came home six weeks later.

When she was school age, the special education law came into effect, and Laura tended schools in Burley and American Falls, ID; Billings, MT; and Morgan, UT, where she graduated from Morgan High School (through her IEP), and Morgan Seminary. When she lived in Burley, she was a March of Dimes Poster Child. While living in Morgan, she and Mary Etta had the opportunity to participate in the television ads for UCARE/2-1-1 to locate resources for people with disabilities. Although she was very petite, Laura had a contagious laugh and smile that helped others feel more comfortable with her physical limitations. She loved riding in her van, listening to music, being read to, and the many people in her life, (especially children). She also enjoyed activities with her family. She attended MDC Magic Valley during weekdays and enjoyed the activities and her friends.

She is survived by her parents, a sister, Julie (Rhett) Jenkins, and a brother, Dean (Kimberly) Tubbs, maternal grandfather, Ned Bowen, paternal grandmother, Carma Peterson, six nieces and nephews, and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Dean Tubbs and maternal grandmother, Eva Bowen.

The funeral was held May 16, 2011 at the Springdale LDS church house, Burley. Burial will be at Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley.
