LaMar J. Thomas, 12 March 1908
LaMar J. Thomas, 88, of Malad passed away April 26, 1996 in the Oneida County Hospital. He was born March 12, 1908 in Malad, a son of Daniel Roy and Rachel Elizabeth Jones Thomas. He was reared and educated and had been a lifetime resident of Malad.
He married Annabel Ashton February 5, 1930 in Malad, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, UT LDS Temple. She died May 14, 1966. On June 9, 1978 he was married to Margaret Brownle Sweeten in the Ogden, UT LDS Temple.
As a young man he had been a range rider for 12 years and for the most part of his life he was a farmer and cattleman. He was always actively involved in the community and loved the Malad Valley.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as stake mission president, high councilman and other church callings.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Malad; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Shirley) Tew of Pleasantview, UT, and Mrs. James (Marlene) Blake of Lumberton, NC; 16 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; he is also survived by a nephew and niece, who he raised, Leslie O. and wife Debbie Braker, Malad, and Mrs. Jay (Cheryl) Bodine of West Jordan, UT; he is also survived by two stepsons and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Dennis (Sherry) Evans of Malad; Mrs. Frank (Marsha) Russell, Clinton, UT; Elbert Sweeten, Jr. and wife, Euna of Richmond, UT; Denver and wife, Lucinda Sweeten of Malad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two daughters, one son, one brother and also three sisters.
