He served on the Malad City Council, as well as the Oneida Fair Board during the construction of the Malad City fairgrounds. He served as secretary/director of the Deep Creek Irrigation Co. during construction of the Deep Creek Reservoir in Oneida County. He served in the Navy in World War II.

In 1952 he moved to Montpelier, ID and purchased the local Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile dealership. This began a long life of involvement with General Motors and the automobile business.

K.V. was owner of automobile dealerships in Montpelier, Soda Springs, Grace, ID and Brigham City, UT and was influential in establishing dealerships in Burley and twin Falls, ID, as well as Price, UT.

He moved to Brigham City in 1962 and remained living there (with winters spent in his home in St. George) until his recent death.

While in Montpelier and Brigham City, K.V. continued his involvement in church, civic and business affairs. He was an organizer of the Tri State Bank and Trust of Montpelier, ID and served as Chairman of the Board for over twenty years. This ranch was later sold to Sweetwater developers for recreation and home development in the Bear Lake area. Upon the sale of this property in 1971, K.V. purchased a 10,400 acre cattle ranch in Chesterfield, ID that consisted of hay, grain and a cow/calf operation with approximately 1500 head of cattle. Many years were spent with his ranch employees and sons in the operation and management of this cattle ranch. He loved the outdoors and wide open spaces and worked to better the surrounding area by serving as a director of the Portneuf River Water Users District for over 20 years. The ranch was eventually sold in 2000 due to his advancing age.

Funeral services will be held August 8, 2011 at the Brigham City 6th Ward Chapel, Brigham City, UT. Interment was in the Brigham City Cemetery with Military Honors accorded.
