Kent Asay – 10 Oct 1920

Funeral services for Kent Asay, age 70, who passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, March 13, 1991 were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday March 18, 1991 in the Thatcher Stake Center with Bishop Ron Sparks officiating. Concluding services with full military honors by the Swift Murphy Post No. 32 of the American Legion and interment followed in the Thatcher Cemetery.

Kent was born on October 10, 1920 in Thatcher and was the son of Maggie Eliza Allred and John Hilbert Asay. He attended Thatcher schools, and worked on the family farm in Thatcher. He joined the military serving with the army during WWII, serving in South East Asia, receiving a Distinguished Unit Badge, American Campaign Medal, Asiactic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star Good Conduct Medal.

He returned to Thatcher after his discharge from the service and continued to farm.

He moved to Idaho in 1949 where he owned and operated a farm. In 1983, he sold the farm to his sons and returned to Thatcher spending his winters in Thatcher and lived in Idaho during the summer months.

He is survived by two sons, Michael W. and William Kent, Jr. both of Malad, Idaho; two step daughters Kathy Randall of Twin Falls, Idaho and Barbara Broberg of Billings, Montana; one brother, Delmar of Malad, Idaho; two sisters, Alleen Combs of Ukiah, California, Audre;y Hoopes of Lebanan and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Melva.
