NEAMAN, KENNETH L., June 30, 1937 – August 8, 2008

POCATELLO – Kenneth L. Neaman, age 71, of Pocatello, passed away on August 8, 2008 at a local care center. He was born in Washakie, Utah on June 30, 1937, Box Elder County, to Jim John Neaman and Emmeline Pabawena.

He married Lynda Merrill on August 12, 1958 in Blackfoot, ID where they resided and both worked at Lambert Produce. They later divorced.

He went to grammar school at the Washakie School. He went to Idaho State University Vo-Tech and graduated with a drafting engineering degree. He also worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 16 years, then moved to Rock Springs, WY and worked at the Black Butte Coal mine as chief engineer and supervisor for nine years.

He then moved to Pocatello, ID and worked as a bilingual Shoshone language teacher, and designed the dictionary for the Shoshone language at ISU. He then worked for Peter Kiewit Construction as a drafting engineer at the INEL site for two years. Then we went to work for BIA Irrigation as a ditch rider until he retired at 69 years old.

He enjoyed hunting big game, fishing, bowling and was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Utah Jazz. He made many belts, purses and gun holsters using his leather crafts. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his daughters, Shonna D. Gunter of Pocatello and Robyn K. McCormick of Rock Springs, WY; sister, Lana Presnell of Granger, WA; grand-daughter Apryl Lucas of Pocatello and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lee Neaman, Jim John Neaman, Jr., and Raymond Neaman; sister, Eleanor Neaman; and two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held August 13, 2008 at the Fort Hall LDS Branch. Burial will follow funeral services at Washakie Cemetery in Washakie, UT.
