Jim John Neaman, Jr., 8 July 1931

POCATELLO – Jim “Duke” John Neaman, Jr., passed away April 30, 2002 at a local medical center.

He was born in Washakie, UT to Jim John and Emmaline Pabawena Neaman, Sr. on July 8, 1931. He was raised in Washakie, UT. he attended Washakie Indian Day School and the Riverside Indian Institute in Riverside, CA.

Jim worked in his early years at the Washakie LDS Church Farm and in Blackfoot, ID for a potato packing company and area farmers. He made his home in Granger, WA on the Yakima Indian Reservation where he farmed and had a horse ranch.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a High Priest in the Zillah Ward in Washington State. He was a stake missionary and held other church auxiliary positions.

Jim was an honorable member of the AQHA. He liked to train show horses, especially the Appaloosa breed. He won many awards with his horses in the western states including Denver, CO and San Francisco, CA. His pride and joy was the beautiful Appaloosa horse that he trained and sold to a beautiful cowgirl that won the top honor as Miss Rodeo America. He loved to hunt big game and fish, play softball and basketball.

He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Neaman, Pocatello, ID; and a sister, Lana R. Presnell, Woodbridge, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Eleanor Neaman, brothers, Lee A. and Raymond, and two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held May 4, 2002 at Colonial Funeral Chapel with President Merlin Blad officiating. Burial will follow at the Washakie Cemetery in Washakie, Utah.
