Kenneth F. Morgan, 81, of American Falls, Idaho, died Wednesday, November 29, 1995, at Harms Memorial Hospital, American Fall.
Ken was born in Malad City, Idaho April 17, 1914 to William J. and Nellie D. Morgan. He attended school in Malad, and graduated from Malad High School in 1933. During his senior year he worked part time in the local J.C. Penney Store. After graduation he continued to work there, and in 1935 was transferred to Montpelier, Idaho as assistant manager. He was later transferred to St. Anthony, Idaho.
In March of 1942 he entered the Air Force, and in July he went overseas to the Pacific Theater, where he was stationed in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. He returned to St. Anthony at the end of the war.
In 1947 he moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho with the Penney Company. On September 15, 1953 he married Lillian B. Kuttler, and became the father of her 8- year-old son, Dennis. They were later blessed with two sons, Kevin and Jeffrey.
In 1953 the family moved to Mount pleasant, Utah, where he was the manager of the Penney store. In July 1958 the family was transferred to Spanish Fork, Utah. In October 1962 they moved to American Falls, and opened their own business, Morgan’s Department Store, which they operated until they retired.
Ken served on the American Falls City Council from 1974 to 1982, and was mayor of American Falls from 1982 through 1985. He was active in the Lions Club and the chamber of commerce, serving as the president of each organization.
He was a member of the American Legion. Ken was a lifetime member of the Elks Club No. 1085 in Idaho Falls. He was a high priest in the LDS Church, Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting, water skiing and camping trips with the family.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeffery P. Morgan, and one sister, Hazel Pritchett. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; his sons, Dennis “R.D.” and Cindy Kuttler and Kevin Morgan; six grandchildren, Justin (Shawna), Tanji and Max Kuttler, Chase, Dustin and Kylie Morgan; and two-great-grandchildren, Jordan and Hailey Kuttler.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 1995, at 10:30 a.m. At the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, American Falls, Third Ward, with Bishop Ron Nelson conducting. Visitation will be tonight from 6 p.m. To 8.m. At Davis Mortuary, 170 Idaho St. American Falls, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Fallsview Cemetery, American Falls, with military honors by the American Legion, Roland Evans Post No.3.
Memorials are preferred to the American Falls Youth Center or the Power County Nursing Home.
