ROY-Douglas Martin Murphy, 59, passed away peacefully in his sleep after an extended illness on Jan. 1 1995.

He was born April 4, 1935 in Malad, Idaho to Mildred Marion Neill and Chester Lee Murphy. He married Barbara Jo Carr on July 31, 1954.

He loved respected and enjoyed nature. With Barbara at his side, they took many “walk-a-bouts” to experience the peace and beauty of God’s wonderful creations. Doug was a man of strong opinions and diverse interests- from electronics, at which he made a living, to gourmet cooking, from photography to gunsmithing.

He is survived by his devoted wife, two sons, and two daughters; Kathleen and David Irving, Vernal; Colleen and Chuck Spickelmire, Sandpoint, Idaho; David and Alice Murphy, Mantua; 11 grandchildren; He is also survived by his brother, Jim and his wife, Helen Murphy, Clearfield; aunts, an uncle, nieces and nephew.

His father and mother, and granddaughter have welcomed him home.

He was accompanied by his favorite dog, Skor.

We love you and will miss you, Dad, but we are comforted to know that you will suffer no more.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1995 at 2 p.m. At the Washington Heights Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Meyers Mortuary in Roy Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. To 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children Intermountain Unit, Virginia ST, at Fairfax, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.
