MALAD – Kenneth C. Stayner, 74, of North Ogden, Utah, and a former Malad resident, died Thursday in Twin Falls of a sudden heart attack.

He was born May 31, 1912 in Malad, a son of Arthur and Elizabeth Chamberlain Stayner. As a boy, the family moved to Salt Lake City. He grew up and was educated in Salt Lake City and later in Buhl.

He married Maudie Lewis October 3, 1934, in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple June 1, 1964. She died October 28, 1984.

As a young man, Mr. Stayner had farmed in the Malad area for a short time. He later worked for ZCMI, Wholesale Division in Twin Falls and also Eitel MCullough in Salt Lake City. He worked in San Cario*, California for a period of time. In 1982 he moved to North Ogden.

He was a member of the LDS Church and served a mission to San Mata**, California. He also served as president of the YMMIA and various other church positions.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Lana Jean) Hankins, Fenton, Michigan; two granddaughters, Wendy and Amy Hankins, also of Fenton; and one sister Sasra Lund, Santa Monica, California.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15, at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad with Bishop Sheldon Jensen officiating.

Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
