KARMA M. HAWKINS

CHUBBUCK – Karma M. Hawkins, 82, passed away peacefully January 18, 2011.

She was born June 3, 1928 to Verl and Vera Jones in Malad, Idaho. She was the youngest of three children. She lived in Malad until she graduated from Malad High School, where she was a cheerleader.

After graduating from high school, she met and married Dean Bambrough while he was attending Utah State University. They had one child together, a son Craig. They were later divorced.

In 1950 she married Arlyn Bowles. She had two more sons during this marriage. Kirk was born in 1953, and Rick was born in 1956. While married to Arlyn, she lived in Pocatello, Challis, Arco and Blackfoot, Idaho. She also lived in Butte, and Missoula, MT. Karma and Arlyn were divorced in 1973.

Mom then married Lynn Hawkins on July 9, 1973. They lived together in Pocatello until her passing. At the time of her passing, she was under the care of Ridge Wind Assisted Living Center in Pocatello. Mom had been in failing health for the past eight years.

Karma worked in retail sales most of her life. While living in Pocatello, she worked at The Paris, J.D. Penney, ZVMI and for a time managed Royal Formal Wear.

Mom was active in Rotary International while married to Arlyn. She also loved to dance, in particular, “jitterbugging”. She was an avid baseball fan and liked to attend major league baseball games with her sons and betting on the results of football games with Lynn. She was also a life member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mom is survived by her husband, Lynn Hawkins of Pocatello; and sons, Craig Bowles of Idaho Falls; Kirk Bowles of Pocatello; and Rick Bowles of Post Falls, ID. She is preceded in death by her parents, Verl and Vera Jones, a sister, Reva Thorpe and a brother, Sheldon Jones.

In keeping with Mom’s wishes, she will be cremated with no viewing or funeral services prior to the cremation. Graveside services will be held at the Malad Cemetery at a later date to be determined.
