JUANITA S. THOMAS

Juanita Stowe Thomas, 89, of Malad, died December 22, 1990 in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born November 17, 1901 in Malad to William H. and Anna Jensen Stowe. She grew up and was educated in Malad.

She married Robert Lewis Thomas on January 1, 1923 in Malad; their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, UT LDS Temple. Mr. Thomas preceded her in death.

Most of her married life was spent farming in the Deep Creek area.

She was active in community service and was a member of War Mothers and a charter member of the Ernest W. Jones American Legion Auxiliary Post. She also was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Young Women’s organization and Relief Society.

She is survived by five sons, Robert Grant Thomas, Blackfoot; Darrell David, William Earl, Gordan Lyle (Sam) and Ronald LaMonte Thomas, all of Malad; three daughters, Mabel Lorraine Starkey, Nampa; Norma Mae Thomas, Malad, and Mrs. William (Nola Jean) Coats, Battle Mountain, Nevada; 34 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Verda Andrews and Mrs. Lester (Isabell) Atkinson, both of Malad. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thursday in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel. Burial was in the Malad Cemetery.
