FORMER MALAD RESIDENT DIES IN POCATELLO

Joseph T. Thomas, 67, Arbon Valley rancher, died Wednesday afternoon (May, 1952) in a Pocatello hospital after a short illness.

He was born July 18, 1884 in Malad, attended Malad schools and on Dec. 25, 1906, married Sarah Jane Lewis in Malad. They moved to Arbon Valley in 1909 and operated a dry farm. For several years they were owners of the Arbon Community Grocery. In 1923 they moved to Pocatello where Mr. Thomas worked for Scowcroft Co., Idaho Wholesale Grocery, and more recently for Alameda Coal Co. During World War II he was employed at the Pocatello Naval Ordinance plant.

While in Arbon, Mr. Thomas served as an Arbon School District trustee and as manager of the Arbon baseball team.

Surviving are the widow, Pocatello; three daughters, Mrs. Orval Davis, Arbon; Mrs. Joe Howard and Mrs. Wilford Curzon, Pocatello; four grandchildren and one great grandson, also three sisters, Mrs. D.L. Bolingbroke, Malad; Mrs. John Bolingbroke and Mrs. Frank Barnett, Pocatello. A brother, Richard Thomas, Pocatello, was killed in an automobile accident last September.
