Joseph George Dalton (Birth 23 Oct 1913/Death 28 Sep 1986)
Joseph George Dalton, 72, 1306 Cottage Ave., died Sunday in Bannock Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 23, 1913 in Malad, to George and Sara Jane McKay Dalton. He was educated in the Malad schools and was a graduate of Malad High School. He attended Weber College in Ogden, Utah.
He married Ida Knudson June 1, 1936 in Pocatello. They lived in Malad for five years and then moved to Pocatello in 1942.
Mr. Dalton was employed as a salesman for Montgomery Ward, Jensen Furniture and C. Ed Flandro’s Ford. He received several awards as outstanding salesman. He was also employed at Union Pacific Railroad during World War II.
He was an elder in the LDS Church.
He served two terms as president of the Idaho State Cutter Racing Association. He was horse racing commissioner from 1974-1961.
He enjoyed horses, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of Pocatello; three sons, Max Dalton and Sydney Dalton, both of Pocatello; Don Dalton, Idaho Falls; Two daughters, Mrs. Boyce (Kay) Warren, Darby, Mont.; Mrs. Joseph (JoAnn) Osier, Boise; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Pocatello LDS 18th Ward chapel, Hawthorne and Eldredge streets, with Bishop Lynn Harris officiating. The family will meet with friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Manning Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., and Wednesday at the LDS church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Benson-Horsley Funeral Home of Malad.
