Services at Pocatello for Joseph Elias Ashton, 68

Funeral services were held at Pocatello last week for Joseph Elias Ashton, age 68, who died July 14, 1970, at a Blackfoot hospital. Burial was in Mountainview Cemetery.

Mr. Ashton was born at Woodruff, Idaho on March 20, 1902, to Hyrum and Emma Johns Ashton. He attended school there and worked on farms until 1923 when he went to Pocatello and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad until 1960 when he retired because of ill health. On June 23, 1926, he married Louise Hawkes in the Logan LDS Temple and they were later divorced.

Survivors include a son, Max Leon Ashton, Salt Lake City; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Melba) Thorpe, Pocatello; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, Warren and Harvey, and three sisters.

One son, Lyle, died in 1934.
