John W. South, age 63, died Tuesday at Bannock Memorial Hospital, Pocatello, of complications following surgery.

Funeral services will be conducted at Malad Second LDS Ward chapel at 12 noon Saturday with Bishop Gordon Crowther officiating. Burial will be in Malad City Cemetery.

Friends may call at Benson Funeral Home Friday evening and Saturday prior to services.

Mr. South was born at Malad August 22, 1910, a son of David and Ella Thomas South. He was graduated from Malad High School and attended University of Idaho, Moscow.

He married Norma Williams Aug. 22, 1934, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

Mr. South was a farmer. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in the presidency of Second Quorum, of Elders. Mr. South had served as secretary to Oneida Rod and Gun Club, was a member of the board of directors of Oneida Farm Bureau, served 11 years on Oneida Agriculture, Stabilization and Conservation Service Committee, five as county chairman, and was a past president and treasurer of Malad Eagles Lodge.

Surviving are his widow, Malad; a daughter, Mrs. Jay (Shirley) Bill, Logan; three sons, Major David J., Dayton, Ohio; Terrell W., Logan; Lamont W., Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Pearl) Briggs, Pocatello, and Mrs. Albert (Clara) Bush, Malad.
