John Palmer

ABERDEEN — John W. Palmer, 76. died Sunday [May 14, 1982] at St. Anthony community Hospital in Pocatello.

He was born March 11, 1906, at Holbrook to Frederick and Ella Anderson Palmer. He married Nellie Warner May 3, 1924, at Malad. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple July 12, 1933. She died Feb. 7, 1974, and he married Myrtle Scoles[sic] Feb. 14, 1975, in Aberdeen. Johnny spent his childhood in the Malad area, moving to Aberdeen in 1925. He worked for Earl Gorman for several years before he leased a farm south of Aberdeen and began farming. He lived on this farm until his death.

He was a member of the LDS Church, holding the position of elder.

He enjoyed many years riding with the Boots and Saddles Club of Aberdeen. He also enjoyed bowling. Since his retirement from the farm he enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ferrell and Neldon[sic], both of Aberdeen; four daughters, Donna Welch, Karen King, Denise Dancliff[sic], and Jackie Terry, all of Aberdeen; a stepdaughter, Joan Kramer, Aberdeen; 39 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; a brother, Golden, Aberdeen; two sisters, Mrs. Ed. W. Woozley[sic] and Mrs. Robert Rouse, both of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Aberdeen LDS chapel with Bishop Stanley Pierce officiating under the direction of Davis Mortuary.

Burial will be in the Aberdeen Cemetery.

Friends may call today from 7-9 p.m. at Davis Mortuary and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon at the mortuary, and at the church in Aberdeen from 1 p.m. to service time.
