Funeral services were conducted at the Malad Fourth LDS Ward Chapel Saturday for John T. (Jack) Owens, 52, who died Thursday at his home in Ogden of a heart ailment.
Services at the chapel were conducted by Chester L. Bolingbroke, 2nd Counselor, Ogden 4th Ward. Prelude and postlude music was by Myra Jean John. Prayers were invocation: Loren Peck, Jr. and benediction J. Reed Nielsen. Ralph Harding, Bishop Melvin L. Schwartz, Ogden 4th Ward and Harold E. Thomas, who gave the obituary, were the speakers. Musical numbers were vocal solos, Helen E. Jones, violin selection, Mrs. Fern Willie.
Concluding rites were conducted at the Malad City Cemetery with dedicatory prayer by Jesse Hughes.
Casket bearers were Ross Thomas, Robert Owens, Owen Nielsen, Alan Nielsen, Fred Peck and Boyd Peck.
Services were conducted under the direction of Larkin Mortuary of Ogden.
Mr. Owens was born Sept. 10, 1911 at Malad, a son of Richard E. and Sara Little Owens. He married Dell Peck September 17, 1934 at Salt Lake City.
He made his living as a switchman for the Ogden Union Railroad and Depot Co.. He was a member of the LDS Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Survivors include his widow; sons, daughter; John F., Don L., Mrs. Ken (Sue) Sorensen, all of Ogden; a brother and two sisters: Jedd Owens, Pocatello; Mrs. Harold (Helen) Thomas, Lava Hot Springs, Mrs. Reed Nielsen, Portage, Ut.
