John Raymond Terry, age 86, passed away Monday, November 23, 2009 at his home in Roy. He was born October 26, 1923 in Ogden to Raymond and Stella Clarke Terry.
After graduating from Weber High School in 1943 he served in the U.S. Navy during WW11. He worked several years at the Rainbow Bar in Roy and retired from Defense Depot Ogden.
He married Betty Wilson, they were later divorced. He married Eliza Beth Grover on February 8, 1952 in Las Vegas, NV. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on October 18, 1989.
He and his wife enjoyed fishing, traveling, genealogy and temple work. He was an active member of the Roy LDS 9th Ward and a regular patron in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Surviving is a daughter, Marilyn (Gary) Moore of Malad, ID; a son, David G. Grover of Roy; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Richard (Joan) Terry of Salem, UT; Howard (Bunny) Terry and Robert (Elda) terry of Roy; three sisters, Carol Stark and Elaine Johnson of Roy; and Jeanette (James) Matis of College Place, TX.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother, a son and two daughters.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Roy City Cemetery, 5200 South 2300 West. Friends and family may call on Saturday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services. Military Honors will be accorded.
