John Caldwell

Another Malad resident was called to his final rest on Friday, December 6, 1932, in the person of John Caldwell, who passed away at his home after an illness of four months with tumor.

Mr. Caldwell, the son of Robert and Hannah Thomas Caldwell, was born at Malad on April 2, 1875, and has resided here all his life.

On January 3, 1930 he married Mrs. Lilly Caldwell, who with his five children, Mrs. Griff Davis, Isabel and Khalil Caldwell, all of Malad; Mrs. James Westergard of Salt Lake and Earl Caldwell of Chesterfield; and six brothers and sisters, William Caldwell, of Paris, Idaho; Sylvanus and Sylvester Caldwell of Soda Springs, Mrs. Rose Grigsby of Canada and Mrs. John T. Jones of Malad still survive.

Mr. Caldwell was a member of the L. D. S. church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at one o’clock at the First ward chapel under the direction of Bishop J. H. Dredge. The invocation was offered by Josiah Price. Speakers were H. W. Lawrence, Thos. D. Evans, J. Peter Jensen and Bishop J. H. Dredge. Musical numbers were rendered by Mrs. Kate E. Jones and Merle Reynolds, Stillman Harris and H. M. Williams and the benediction offered by George Parry.

Internment was in the Malad cemetery where Wm. H. Richards, Sr., dedicated the grave.
