LIMA, Mont.- Jess Kenneth Monk, 81, Lima, Mont., formerly of Soda Springs, passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 1995, of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 13, 1914 to Junius C. and Annie C. Munk at Manti, Utah. On Aug. 4, 1937 he married Lois Ellen Steed of Clearfield, Utah. Nine children were born to this union.

Jess was a veteran of World War II, in which he served in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1943 to 1945. He worked for Monsanto for 24 years at the Soda Springs plant as a millwright. After retirement in 1976 he moved to Lima, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include a brother, Lloyd Munk of Idaho Falls, Idaho; as sister, Eunice Buchanan of Boise, Idaho; sons, Don Munk Elko, Nev., Vergil Munk, Milton Freewater, Oregon, Kenneth Munk, Southwick, Mass; daughters, June Rush, Lima, Mont., Judy Legareta, Gooding, Idaho; and Janice Schow, Pocatello, Idaho; 30 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, and two sons.

Graveside services will be held at the Grace Cemetery in Grace, Idaho Monday, Sept. 25, 1995 at 2 p.m.

Services are under the direction of Brundage Funeral Home, Lima, Montana.
