To my family and friends, this will be the last news letter of my life.
I was born September 28, 1938 to George T. and Gladys Hobson in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. I was born in the home of my grandparents, George and Florence Avery. I was the first grand- child, great grandchild, great, great grandchild and great, great, great grand-child on both sides of the two families. The first eighteen years of my life was spent living up Dempsey Creek at the home of my parents. My grade school years one through eight were spent at the Lava Grade School. My next three high school years were in McCammon at North Marsh High School which consisted of Lava, Arimo and McCammon. In1956 I graduated from Marsh Valley High School in the first graduating class. In 1959 I enlisted in the US Army for three years as a Military Policeman. During my three year enlistment I was stationed at Fort Ord, California, Fort Gordon, Georgia, Fort Carson, Colorado and spent 16 months in Korea. While home on leave before I went to Korea I met LaJean Day on a blind date and we were married on July 30, 1962, and from this marriage Tracy (Angelee), Tony (Debra), Tim (Rebecca), and Tonja (Travis Brown) were brought into our family. LaJean and I were married for 37 years before a tragic car accident took her life.
In August of 2003, also on a blind date, I met Edna C. Galbraith and was married on October 18, 2003. From this marriage I gained five step daughters and one step son, Diane, Debora, Dorraine, Iris, Sherie, and Glenn. We were married for six and one half years before she was called home with a heart attack.
I worked for Bannock County Weed Department for 21 ½ years with the last 7 years as the Bannock County Weed Control Supervisor. To fill up my spare time after retiring I continued working in weed control, having my own weed spraying company. I also stayed on as a Bannock County Weed Board member and as Chairman of the Utah- Idaho Cooperative Weed Management Area. This consisted of three Idaho Counties and two Utah Counties. I have continued to live in Lava Hot Springs in my home up Dempsey Creek and would like to thank all my friends and family for the good times and great experiences I have been able to enjoy.

Dad was a great example to his family and friends. He was a wise, kind, and caring man. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Dad was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held many callings during the past years. He is survived by all of his children, step children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 11 at 12 noon in the Lava LDS Chapel. Bishop Lynn Stewart, officiating. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the church and on Thursday from 10:30-11:45 am. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
