Jean Van Leuven Georgeson, 1 December 1916

DOWNEY – Jean Van Leuven Georgeson, 85, of Downey, ID passed away July 13, 2002 at her home from an extended illness.

She was born December 1, 1916 at Downey, ID, the eldest child and only daughter of Silas Emil and Hazel Hadfield Van Leuven. She graduated in 1935 from Downey High School, and started working as a telephone operator.

On June 22, 1937, she married Donald LeMar Georgeson in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They made their home in Pocatello while Don worked on the railroad road house during World War II. They moved to Downey in 1945 where they have since resided.

Jean was self employed doing sewing, providing child care and was a 4-H leader for 14 years. She was also a cook for the Marsh Valley School District, the Downey Senior Citizen Center and as a volunteer for the South Bannock County Fair.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, singing with the Singing Mothers and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Jefferson Hunt Camp, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for many years.

Jean was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held various positions in the Downey First Ward, serving in the Primary and Relief Society.
