Former Malad Woman Killed By Lightning

Mrs. Jean Kent Moss, 25, of Marsh Center, near Downey, was electrocuted Saturday afternoon, August 9, 1952, when the family residence was struck by lightning during a flash thunderstorm.

Mrs. Moss was preparing lunch in the kitchen of the family residence when the bolt crashed through the roof of the house Saturday about 3:15 p.m. She was knocked unconscious and died without regaining consciousness about 5:30 p.m.

The victim’s husband, Sam Moss, and the couple’s two children were in the house but they were not injured.

Jen Kent Moss was born August 1, 1926 at Dairy Creek, near Malad, a daughter of Wesley and Mabel Nielsen Kent.

She resided there until her marriage in September, 1941 to Samuel Moss at Elko, Nevada. She was a member of the LDS Church.

Surviving are her husband; two children, Steven Richards and Nancy Faye Moss; her mother, Arimo; four brothers, Sidney, Marlin and Gordon kent, all of Arimo; and Grant Kent, in the army at Fort Bragg, N.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Oline Morrison, Arimo; Mrs. Gneil Marley, Glenwood Springs, Colorado and Mrs. Alice Hansen, North Fork, Idaho
