JASPER ELMER JOHN

Funeral services for Jasper Elmer John, 87, Lava Hot Springs and a former Oneida county resident, were held Saturday at the Malad First ward chapel with Counselor Paul Mills officiating. Mr. John died January 2 (1957) at Idaho Falls.

A member of the Baptist Church, Mr. John was born January 7, 1869 in Newcomerstown, Ohio, a son of James and Mandy Guthrie John. On February 14, 1899, he married Anna Sample in Erie, Kansas. They moved to Malad in 1916 and homesteaded at Daniels. He worked for the city of Pocatello from 1920 to 1927 and moved to Lava Hot Springs in 1947.

Surviving are one son, W. Harold John, Lava Hot Springs; one brother, Oscar John, Walnut, Kansas.

Speakers at the services were Edward N. Crowther and Grant Tuescher. Family prayer at the funeral home was offered by Mr. Mills; invocation, Thomas Burrows; benediction, D. Dredge Thomas; dedicatory prayer, J. Guy Benson. Musical numbers were prelude and postlude, Betty H. Crowther; vocal solos, Guy Gleed, Leorga (sic) Brown and Louis Yearsley.

Casket bearers were Del Clark, Ray Clark, Rex Christofferson, Dale Hedstrom, Clair Christofferson, Warren Thomas.

Burial was in the St. John cemetery.
