PIONEER WOMAN OF MALAD VALLEY CALLED BY DEATH

Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Lewis Roberts Thomas, 92, Malad resident for the past 80 years, who died January 25, 1947 were held at the First Ward chapel Monday with H.E. Thomas of the First Ward Bishopric presiding.

Prayer at the home was offered by Charles Bowcutt. The speakers were Wm. H. Rutter and H.L. Mills. Musical numbers were furnished by Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Sorenson, Bert O. Marble, Mrs. Helen Ossmen, Wesley Crowther and Mrs. Andy Talbot, who played the prelude and postlude. Hugh Griffiths offered the invocation and Jesse Dredge the benediction. J. Guy Benson dedicated the grave.

She was born in North Wales, August 23, 1854, a daughter of Edward Giles and Elizabeth Lewis Roberts. She came to the United States in 1866. She was married to David D. Thomas February 6, 1874. He died several years ago.

Surviving are five sons and daughters, John C. Thoms, Tremonton, and Mrs. William Henderson, Malad; and Mrs. Charles Bowcutt, Ogden, UT; 30 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
