MALAD – James William Madson, 81, of Malad died Friday, July 1, 1994, in Layton, Utah, of heart failure. He was born Dec. 9, 1912, in Malad, a son of John and Ann Amelia Clark Madson. He grew up and was educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School.

He married Idonna Nuttall Sept. 18, 1940, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She passed away April 30, 1988.

Mr. Madson was a lifelong resident of Malad and had farmed and ranched in Elkhorn for many years. He was an active member of the LDS Church, where he had served in many capacities, including bishop. He was active also in the local cattlemen’s association and water boards.

He is survived by five sons and spouses, James Michael and Cheryl Madson, Ogden, Utah; Clark Noal Madson, Malad; Craig William Madson, Pocatello; Stacy Lloyd and Peggy Madson, Idaho Falls; Perry John and Brenda Madson, Layton, Utah; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, Jack Madson, Malad; Orville Madson, Washington, D.C.; Rex Madson, Salt Lake City, Utah; Grand Madson, Idaho Falls; Parks Madson, Reliance, Wyo,; two sisters, Elva Williams, Malad, and Amelia Ann Garrick, Santa Ana, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, Idonna; 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 1994, at noon in the St. John LDS Chapel, 308 W. 400 N., Malad. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
