EVANS, JAMES P.

A former Malad resident, James P. “Jay” Evans, 70, Moreland, was killed Wednesday, 1970 when a horse fell on him. Mr. Evans was riding near the home of a daughter, Mrs. jack (Jean) Fisher of Moreland at the time of the accident. He was taken by ambulance to Bingham Memorial Hospital, Blackfoot, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mr. Evans was born October 2, 1899 in Malad, a son of James J. and Emily Williams Evans. Educated here, he married Freda Layton in Pocatello on November 13, 1928 and the marriage was solemnized later in the Logan LDS Temple. They resided in Malad, Downey and Dayton before moving to Moreland.

Survivors are his widow at Moreland; a son and three daughters, Jim Evans and Mrs. Fisher, both of Moreland; Mrs. Rex (EmaLu) Hichman, McCammon; Mrs. Keith (Alta) Capson, Blackfoot; a brother, Vaughn W., Boise; a sister, Mrs. Win (Barbara) Rohwer, Bountiful, UT; 20 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Moreland.
