JAMES NEIL THOMPSON

BRIGHAM CITY – James Neil Thompson, 74, of Brigham City, died on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at his residence in Brigham after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was born on February 8, 1931 in Garland, Utah the son of Leland J. and Mary Wise Thompson. He married Joyce Arlene Nelson on September 8, 1950, in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple on November 14, 1981. They had a wonderful 54 years together.

Neil served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in various places during the Korean War. He retired from Thiokol after 33 years. Dad was a master carpenter and crafted many gifts for his children and grandchildren that they will treasure forever. He loved to work in his garage and was always tinkering with some project. Dad had a rough growl but was a Soft Teddy Bear at Heart. He loved to go hunting with his children and grandchildren and always looked forward to the hunting season. His desire was to get better but it just wasn’t meant to be, he was needed by his Heavenly Father and is reunited with his father, mother, and brother, Reed.

He leaves behind his wife of Brigham City; three sons, and two daughters – Randy (Jolee) and Rick all of Brigham City, Ron (Kathy) and Julie Ann (Norman) Higgs all of Ogden, and Susan Thompson of Honeyville; one sister – Alice (Wayne) Weidman of Tremonton; one brother – Gordon Thompson of Malad, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and t great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at the Brigham City 3rd Ward, located at 203 North 2nd West. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
