JAMES H. REED

Services Monday For James H. Reed

Funeral services for James H. Reed, 86, who died Friday morning [July 24, 1964] in a Lava Nursing Home, were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the 4th Ward LDS chapel with Bishop J. Arthur Servoss officiating.

Family prayer was offered by Bishop Carl A. Evans and at the chapel, D. LeRoy Thomas and Clarence Kent offered the prayers. Speakers were Colen Sweeten, Jr., and James B. Jones. Wanda Napier and Opal Peck and Mark and Vicki Grover presented vocal duets, accompanied by Myra Jean John, who also played the prelude and postlude.

Interment was at the Malad City Cemetery. Raiford G. Benson offered the dedicatory prayers. Flowers were arranged by the Fourth Ward Relief Society.

Casket bearers were John A. Evans, Joe Morgan, Reed Smith, Colen H. Sweeten Jr., Dee Fallis, Wm. H. Richards.

Mr. Reed was born Jan. 26, 1878, at Salt Lake City, the son of John and Mary Hilton Reed. He married Lilly Jensen in February, 1906, at Malad.

He received his education in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the LDS Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He lived in Ogden, where he worked at Hill Air Force Base; Malad, where he was a city police officer; and Lava Hot Springs, where he owned a business.

Survivors include his widow, Malad; four sons, James R. Reed, Nephi, Utah; John A. Reed, Kaysville, Utah; Steve J. Reed, Malad; and Toney A. Reed, Ogden; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
