INTERMENT HERE FOR JAMES C. TOVEY, 89
Interment services for a former Oneida County school superintendent, James C. Tovey, 89, Boise, were held at Malad, August 9th.
Mr. Tovey died August 5, 1978 at Boise and services were held at Summers Funeral Home, Boise, by Boise Lodge No. 1, AF&AM.
Mr. Tovey was born Oct. 6, 1888 at Malad where he was educated. He attended the University of Utah and graduated from the Utah State Agricultural College at Logan, UT. He married Isabel Davis April 8, 1913 at Malad. He taught at Malad High School for two years and was county superintendent of schools for 14 years. They moved to Boise in 1942.
He managed the Unemployment Compensation Dept. of the Employment Dept. and the Idaho State Insurance Fund. He was a director of agencies for Continental Life and Accident Co. from 1944 until retiring in 1954.
He was a member of Malad Lodge No. 51 AF&AM and served as master for four years. He was a 32nd degree mason and a member of Boise Elks Lodge No. 310.
Surviving are his wife of Boise; two sons, Boyd of Boise and Dr. James D. Tovey of San Francisco; eight grandchildren and a great grandchild.
