Jack W. Williams, 79, of Ogden, Utah, died Thursday Oct. 23, 1997 at his home.
He was born and raised in Malad City, the son of the late John H. and Eleanor J. Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Lindquist Mortuary in Ogden.
A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday and for one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday.

Jack W. Williams Sr., 79, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 23, 1997.
Jack was born June 21, 1918, in Malad City, Idaho, a son of John H. and Eleanor Jones Williams.
Jack lived in Malad City for the first 18 years of his life. He then attended the College of Southern Idaho, at Pocatello.
Jack enlisted in the 9th Cavalry which later became the 9th Armored Division of the U.S. Army. He served for four and one half years during World War 11. He served in the European Theatre including the Battle of the Bulge. His division was the first to cross the Rhine River on the Remagen Bridge. While stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, Jack met his beloved wife of 55 years, Avis Arlene Japhet.
After serving his country, Jack returned to a lifelong career in the grocery industry – first with American Foods and the last 16 years with Smiths Food and Drug Centers.
Following retirement from Smiths, he spent his years raising and racing quarter Horse Association and Utah Quarter Horse Association. He loved his family and enjoyed working in his vegetable garden.
Surviving are h is wife Avis of West Haven, Utah; four sons, Jack (Sue) West Haven, Utah; Donald (Linda) Layton, Utah; David (Joy) Bountiful, Utah; Michael (Chris) Centerville, Utah; 13 grandchildren, his many great-grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters.
Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Velma Redington.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Alan Abdulla and I.H.C. Home Care Nurses for their loving care and friendship over the past four years.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Mortuary, in Ogden, Utah. Interment was in the Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
