Day, Jack L. – 16 Apr 1940
DOWNEY, Id. – Jack Lorenzo Day 59, life long resident of Downey, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 1999 at the Pocatello Regional Medical Center following a brave battle with diabetes.
He was born April 16, 1940 in Downey, Idaho. His parents are Eujene and Beatrice Tillotson Day. He was educated in Downey, and was a graduate of Marsh Valley High School, class of 1959. He attended Idaho State University Vo-Tech, and graduated in carpentry.
He was employed for over 30 years with FMC, where he was a lab technician until his medical retirement.
On March 3, 1961 he married Dixie Dixon in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple, and they are the parents of Bradley (Tanya) Day of Pocatello, Jaclyn (Gordon) Briscoe of St. Charles, Missouri, and Debbonnee (Kevin) Wise of Pocatello. His grandchildren include Aaron, Adrienne and Zacharie Day, J.R., Tyler and Kylee Briscoe, and Nicole Wise. Grandpa cherished his time with each grandchild.
He is also survived by his parents; one brother, Jene (Cherolyn) Day, all of Downey.
Jack was a gifted craftsman. He enjoyed leather work, painting ceramics and constructing remote control model airplanes. His favorite place to be was outdoors, fishing, hunting or working in the yard.
He was a high priest in the LDS Church.
Jack appreciated his community, and served as a councilman and also mayor.
