Final Rites Held For Mrs. Swenson
Funeral services were held Monday at the Malad Third LDS Ward for Mrs. Isabella Montgomery Andrews Swenson, 81, who died at the Oneida Hospital Friday following a long illness.
She was born August, 7, 1881, at Logan, Utah, a daughter of Nephi and Euphemia Smith Andrews.
She was married to Oscar Julius Swenson March 19, 1902, in the Logan Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He died in January 1950.
Mrs. Swenson was a graduate of the Brigham Young Academy, Logan, an active member of the LDS Church, and member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge.
The couple homesteaded in Arbon, Idaho, 1911 to 1942 then moved to Malad.
Survivors include two sons and four daughters: Royal O. Swenson, Vadel L. Swenson, Mrs. Paul (Gladys) Clark, and Mrs. Don (Wanda) Goddard, all Malad; Mrs. Clem (Venice) Davis, San Francisco; Mrs. Louis (VaLois) Wickham, Menton, Washington; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; one brother, John Andrews, Logan; five sisters: Mrs. Ren (Vilate) Baird, Mrs. William (Lillian) Jorgenson, Mrs. Vane (Maude) Baird, all of Ogden; Mrs. Guy (Ellaree) Ballard, Tremonton; Mrs. Delbert (Leona) Thirkill, Los Angeles.
At the home, family prayer was by D. Leroy Thomas. At the chapel, with Bishop Lon W. Corbridge officiating, organ prelude and postlude music was by Carla Dawn Goddard, Musical numbers were vocal solo, Helen E. Jones; vocal solo, Eldon Corbridge; violin selection, Fern Willie and Marva Gray. Accompanist was Emma S. Ward. Speakers were Bishop Hubert Gleed, President S. L. Smith and Bishop Corbridge. Invocation and benediction were given by Don Jensen and Willard Anderson.
Concluding rites were conducted at the Malad City Cemetery with dedicatory prayer by Raiford G. Benson.
Services were under the direction of Benson Funeral Home.
Flowers were arranged and carried by members of the Malad Third Ward Relief Society and Royal Neighbors.
Casket bearers were Donald Vaughan, Doyle Swenson, Terrel O. Jones, James L. Goddard, Paul J. Semrad and Dean Swenson.
