Hyrum J. Hanson Dies In California
Funeral services were held Monday at Long Beach, Calif. for Hyrum James Hanson, 77, former Malad businessman and farmer, who died Friday morning at his home in Long Beach. Interment was at the San Pedro Memorial Park.
Mr. Hanson was born in Brigham City, Mar. 28, 1876. On Feb. 28, 1906, he married Edna Knudsen in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple and four children were born to them. In 1914 they moved to Malad where he was engaged in the mercantile business and was manager of the J.C. Penney store here for 16 years. Later he was active in farming and cattle raising in Malad Valley.
Mr. Hanson was an active member of the LDS Church and served in the Malad stake presidency as counselor and bishop of the Second ward.
He is survived by his widow and the following son and daughters: Ralph J. Hanson, Whittier, Calif.; Verda Hoffman, Laguna Beach, Calif.; Helen Hanson, Los Angeles; Mrs. Florence Goddard, Malad, and 10 grandchildren.
