HYRUM BURBANK ROMRELL

Hyrum Romrell, 67, dies at Ogden, August 12th

Hyrum Burbank Romrell, 67, Malad, died Saturday, August 12th [1978] in Ogden, Utah after a short illness.

He was born May 10, 1911, in Wilford to Alfred and Alba Lindsay Burbank Romrell. He married Mary Webster Nov. 13, 1929, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

He was a mechanic and welder and had worked for Hess Construction Co. for several years. He was a member of the LDS Church where he served as a high priest. He was a ward clerk, had served three stake missions, and one full-time mission to Arizona. He was a member of the Lions Club and had served on the city council in Layton, Utah.

He is survived by his wife of Malad; two sons, DeMar W. of Montpelier, and Gary H. of Rexburg; four daughters, Mrs. William H. (Mary Marguerite) Cramer of Pocatello, Mrs. William (Alfreda Joyce) Colton and Eva Lou Ross, both of Malad, and Mrs. Reed (Linda May) Christiansen of Tremonton, Utah; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alfred E. of Shelley, Daniel L. of Wilford and Earl B., Murray, Utah; and one sister, Mrs. Fern Stewart, Rexburg.

Funeral Services

Funeral services were held August 15th at the Malad LDS 1st Ward Chapel with Bishop Gordon Griffiths officiating.

The family prayer at the Benson Funeral Home was offered by William Colton, Jr., and at the Chapel, Pauline Buehler played prelude, postlude and accompaniment music.

Reed Christensen offered the invocation and a vocal trio selection was sung by Marla Dredge, Andrea Perry and Rolene Gleed. Darlene Romrell gave the life sketch followed by speakers George Brown and Bishop Howard Neal. Bishop Griffiths gave remarks.

Joyce T. Colton sung a vocal solo and the benediction was offered by Rollo Romrell.

Concluding Rites

The concluding rites were held at the Rexburg City Cemetery where Daniel L. Romrell gave the dedicatory prayer and a vocal duet “In The Garden” was sung by Manie Bradley and Larry Kerbs.

The flowers were cared for by members of the Malad First Ward Relief Society, Karine Hill, president.
