Hugh Jones Evans died February 17, 1964 at Blackfoot after a long illness. He was born at Malad, December 2, 1876, a son of William T. and Ann Jones Evans. He married Sarah Palmer on May 21, 1902 in the Logan LDS Temple. An active member of the LDS Church, Mr. Evans was a blacksmith. He had served on the Malad City Council.

Survivors include his widow, Malad; one son and one daughter, Myrthus W. Evans, Riverside, CA; Mrs. Joseph (Maria) Williams, Malad; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margurettea Jones, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Mary Daniels, Malad.
